Natural Systems 2015
Team: Elif Erdoğdu, Kürşad Özdemir
our proposal, e-wall is an organized pile of disused white goods, upcycled to a habitat for urban dwellers.
scope
we, as the e-wall team, focus on two actual issues of urban environments: waste management and burning need for more housing units. the percentage of world's population living in urban areas has reached 54% and counting (un report 2014). we, the people need more space to sleep, work, kiss, read, live. one end. the other end, we all produce waste material. the most bulky pieces of trash come out of the segment, house appliances: washing machines, tumble driers, dish washers, refrigerators...all designed and built to fit into standart size kitchen cabinets. all have self supporting structures and clad with panels. the idea is to exploit the structural and volumetric potential of these pieces of "trash", connecting the two ends in a reciprocal reorganization of things.
